What does the link called My List do in the catalog and how can I use it?

If you've ever wanted to keep track of books you've read or what you want to read or request, My List is for you. It lets you share your lists with friends and family with an Email your My List feature.

The first step is to log in to your account so the titles you add to My List are attached to your record. If you forget to log in, any titles added to My List are only there until you end your session in the catalog.

 

To add titles to My List:

1. Search for a library item.
Click Add to My List next to the item you want to add.
(Tips: You can add 100 items in My List temporarily.)

To save the lists for the future:
The regular My List is a temporary save. Move the items to a list that you create after you have logged on. A list you name and create is permanent.

To create a permanent list:
1. Log in to your user account.
2. Search and Add items to My List.
3. View the current My List.
4. Mark the boxes next to the items in the current list that you want to save to a new list.
5. Choose New List from the Move to drop-down list.
6. Click Go.
7. Enter a name for the new list in the field.
8. Click OK.
The selected items are now in a new list.

Tips:
You can have up to 10 specific lists per library card. Each list can have up to 100 items.



To move titles to a specific list:
You can move items from your current My List to a saved list, or move items from one saved list to another saved list.

1. View the current My List or the saved list with the items you want to move. Remember you have to be logged into your account to see your lists.
2. Do one of these options:

  • If you want to move all of the items in the list, mark the box to the left of the Title column.
  • Mark the box next to the specific items you want to move.

3. Choose the saved list you’re moving the items to from the Move To drop-down box.
4. Click Go.
5. If you want to, you can view the saved list to which you moved the items.


To view your My List or My Lists

1. Click the My List icon on the Toolbar. Remember you have to be logged into your account.
All the items in the current My List will be displayed. If you have not added any items to My List, the message "No items in list" will display.
2. If you want to sort the list, click the name of the column you want to sort by.

To view a saved list:
1. Log in to your user account.
2. Click the My List icon on the Toolbar.
All the items in the current My List will display..
3. Choose the saved list you want to view from the Other Lists drop-down list.
4. Click Go.
All the items in the chosen saved list will display.
5. If you want to sort the list, click the name of the column you want to sort by.


To email a list:

There is a link at the bottom of each list called Email this list.

  • Click on Email this list
  • Change the title in Subject box if you want
  • Type in an email address you send
  • Click Send

Tips: There are different email format options for different purposes:

  • For Copying/pasting into Word, choose plain text
  • For importing into Excel, choose delimited
  • For copying/pasting a bibliography in a Word document, choose either MLA or Chicago


Things to try in My List
:

  • If you like authors that write many books, a My List can keep track of what you haven't read yet. It is easy to click on a title in a My List and add it to your requests when you're ready.
  • Make a My List of your favorites for a friend and email the list to them.
  • Make a My List for books your friends recommend but you know you don't have time to read yet.
  • Are you a grandparent? See what we own that you enjoyed as a child and email the list to your grandchildren.
  • Make a My List for books you might want to give as gifts.
