Instead of the quiet life he’d hoped for, J.W. finds plenty of murders to investigate. Some books include recipes. The series begins with A Beautiful Place to Die; Vineyard Stalker is new for 2007.
FLUKE, JOANNE│ HANNAH SWENSON MYSTERIES
After returning to her hometown in Lake Eden, Minnesota, Hannah opens the Cookie Jar, a coffee shop and bakery. The Cookie Jar is the perfect place to catch up on all the local gossip and Hannah uses the information she overhears to help solve mysteries. Her mother is always trying to fix her up with one eligible bachelor after another, but Hannah likes the single life and is happy dividing her time between dentist Norman Rhodes and policeman Mike Kensington. Fluke’s books all include recipes. Start with Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder; Fluke’s newest is Key Lime Pie Murder.

Colorado caterer and single mom Goldy Bear owns Goldilocks Catering, “where everything is just right.” In addition to preparing great food, Goldy has a knack for solving mysteries. Recipes are included. Catering to Nobody is the first mystery in this series. Look for Sweet Revenge in September.
SHARON KAHN. RUBY THE RABBI’S WIFE MYSTERIES
Forty-six year old Ruby, a freelance computer consultant, lives in the small town of Eternal, Texas. She was widowed last year when her husband Stu, the rabbi, was killed in a hit and run accident. There are a number of eccentric characters in this amusing mystery series. Some books include recipes. The first book about Ruby is Fax Me a Bagel. Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Choir is Kahn’s newest.
LOU JANE TEMPLE│ HEAVEN LEE MYSTERIES
Heaven Lee, a disbarred lawyer and former stripper, finally seems to have gotten her life back on track. Her restaurant Café Heaven is becoming a popular Kansas City restaurant but trouble seems to follow Heaven and she finds herself involved in one murder after another. The five times married Heaven is without a doubt the most outrageous character in a culinary series. Temple knows the restaurant scene well; in addition to being a restaurateur, she’s been a guest chef at the Culinary Institute of America. Each book includes recipes. The series began with Death by Rhubarb and concluded with Death is Semisweet. Temple recently started writing an historical food-themed series which starts with The Spice Box.
HART, ELLEN│ JANE LAWLESS MYSTERIES
Lesbian restaurateur Jane Lawless, owner of the Lyme House, solves mysteries in the Minneapolis area with the help of her best friend, Cordelia Thorne. Hart’s other series features Sophie Greenway, a food critic for the Minneapolis Times Register. Some books include recipes. The first in the Jane Lawless series is Hallowed Murder
and Night Vision is the latest.
