TITLE: Per Diem Librarian(s)
|LOCATION: Ocean County Library – System wide
The Ocean County Library is looking for qualified librarians for our Per Diem Librarian (PDL) Program. PDL positions will function as “substitute” librarians on a per diem basis. When a branch has need of a PDL, they will call names on the list until a PDL has agreed to work the required hours and days needed. The requesting library will contact the PDL at least two hours prior to the report time, keeping in mind that while this is not always possible, every reasonable effort should be made to adhere to this guideline.
A PDL will not be a library employee and will be required to obtain a NJ Business Registration and pay all applicable wage taxes. Registration for individuals is free and can be done on-line.
If you are interested in becoming a PDL, please complete the Ocean County Library employment package listed below and send it to: Office of Human Resources, Ocean County Library, 101 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753 Attn: Jennifer Doderer or email as a word document or .pdf to email@example.com. Please make sure to indicate your hours and days of availability and your area of expertise and or interest (i.e. Youth, Teens, Adult Reference). Incomplete packages will not be accepted.
$170 per day for a seven hour day.
Those working less than seven hours will be paid an hourly rate of $24 per hour in half-hour increments. In all cases, PDLs will be entitled to a two hour minimum shift. Payment is on a monthly basis.
Application package must include:
- Ocean County Library Application
- New Jersey Business Registration http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/revenue/busregcert.htm.
- Copy of New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate
Note: Applicants applying for a position as a PDL may be requested to work temporary (longer term) assignments as well.
Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
Applications are also available at any of our branches.
