The H.I.P. (Homework in Progress) Program at the Lakewood Branch offers free homework assistance to students in elementary through high school during the school year. Two part-time coordinators assisted by volunteers provide homework help on a drop-in basis Monday through Thursday from 2:30-6 p.m. HIP was initially funded in 1999 by a New Jersey State Library grant. It will be funded from September 2002 to June 2003 thanks to an Educational Winner's Circle Grant from the Lakewood BlueClaws and First Union Bank.  For further information contact the Lakewood Branch of the Ocean County Library at (732)363-1435 ext. 16.
 

El programa H.I.P. (Homework in Progress, o sea, Tarea en Progreso) les ofrece gratis a niños y jóvenes ayuda con las tareas escolares en la Sucursal de Lakewood, durante el año escolar. Dos coordinadores de medio tiempo, junto con unos voluntarios, ayudan a los estudiantes con sus tareas según vengan, entre las 2:30 y las 6:00 de la tarde, de lunes a jueves. Este programa empezó en 1999 gracias a una subvención ortogada por la Biblioteca Estatal de Nueva Jersey. El programa comenzará de nuevo en septiembre del 2001.
