has many books about the seashore, including ones
on marine biology, shells, shore animals, birds,
plants, and much, much more. Come on in to the library
and check some out for reading on your next trip
to the beach!
Don’t forget to

Premier, which provides full text for over 1,500

the Water in Ocean County
This site, part of the Ocean County Government’s
web pages, is a great resource for those interested
in certain activities while visiting the ocean,
bays, and inland waterways of Ocean County. Here
you will find news about kayaking, canoeing, boat
rentals, and where to find fishing bait and tackle,
along with other information on water activities.

quality from the State of New Jersey’s Department
of Environmental Protection (so that’s why those
helicopters are hovering and dipping things into
the water!).

Cool Room
This site,
maintained by the Rutgers University Coastal Ocean
Observation Lab, pulls together data from satellites,
coastal radars and underwater weather stations.
Fishermen, boaters, sailors, divers, swimmers, and
surfers will have access here to information about
surface currents, water temperatures, wave heights,
and weather at some of our area beaches.

Curious
about lighthouses here in New Jersey? This web site
tells their histories and even has pictures!

Jersey Council of Diving Clubs
This
group was founded in 1956 and has 22 member clubs
and individual members. Many issues important to
divers are discussed here, including New Jersey
diving rules and sand mining. There is a page that
lists New Jersey diving shops, some with their own
web sites.

Jersey Beach Buggy Association
Those
interested in four-wheel beach driving and fishing,
while preserving the natural resources of our beaches,
should click on this link. The NJBBA, established
in 1954, provides links to beach access information,
fishing reports, and weather from their Web page.
Shorebirds
This
site, published by the U.S. Department of Fish &
Wildlife, gives information on shorebirds, many
of which migrate through this area.

Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program
The Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program (BBNEP) is one of 28 estuaries of "national significance" in the United States. The BBNEP works hand in hand with federal, state, municipal, academic, business, and private organizations to help restore, maintain, protect, and enhance this wonderful natural resource.
