 Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) - The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

 Gay & Lesbian National Hotline - The Gay & Lesbian National Hotline is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning community by offering by offering free and totally anonymous information, referrals and peer-counseling.

 Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) - GLSEN is the leading national organization fighting to end anti-gay bias in K-12 schools. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

Get Busy Get Equal (GBGE)  - This online toolkit provides the tools you need to reach out to your neighbors, schools, employers and elected officials and help them understand that fairness for LGBT people is the right thing for America. There is also information on how to protect LGBT relationships and families and how to share experiences to illustrate the real harm of discrimination. This collection of information, helpful hints, step-by-step instructions and other resources can be used right now to protect LGBT people and their rights.

 Human Rights Campaign - HRC is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity, to ensure that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

Lesbian & Gay Parenting – Created by the American Psychological Association, this collection of scholarly articles relates research on lesbians and gay men as parents, along with a discussion of diversity among lesbian mothers, gay fathers and their children.  Also contains an extensive bibliography

 National Gay and Lesbian Task Force - NGLTF is the national progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement. 

 Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays - Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) is a national non-profit organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and almost 500 affiliates in the United States.  PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.  Soulforce - Soulforce is an interfaith movement committed to ending spiritual violence perpetuated by religious policies and teachings against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) people.

 The Trevor Project - The Trevor Project is dedicated to preventing suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual trangender and questioning youth. Resources include a 24/7 crisis intervention hotline and information about suicide warning signs and how to reach out and help someone who may be suicidal.

 It Gets Better Project - Watch a wealth of inspirational videos posted by openly gay adults who were bullied as teenagers. All of these videos send a clear message to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth--life may be very tough for you right now, but it will get better.

Organizations - New Jersey and New York City

 Jersey Shore PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) - Jersey Shore PFLAG was formed in 2004 by a group of concerned Ocean County citizens, but is open to anyone who supports our mission. We are a non-profit organization affiliated with the PFLAG national office and over 500 chapters across the country.

  New Jersey Lesbian & Gay Coalition - The NJLGC is a non-profit organization committed to fighting discrimination based on sexual/ affectional orientation or gender identification and enhancing the quality of lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed people in New Jersey through public advocacy, education, political action, and legal reform.  Site also contains a link to their Youth Resource Guide which has resources for parents and educators of GLBT youth, legal information, helplines and much more.  Also contains a link to a Religious Directory which lists religious groups in New Jersey that welcome GLBT's.

 Gay Activist Alliance of Morris County (GAAMC) - GAAMC is a not-for-profit volunteer run organization, which exists to provide the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed community with a variety of support services.

 The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center - The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, located in the heart of Greenwich Village at 208 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011, provides a home for the birth, nurture and celebration of our organizations, institutions and culture; cares for our individuals and groups in need; educates the public and our community; and empowers our individuals and groups to achieve their fullest potential.

 New Jersey Gay Life - The official website for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender community in NJ!  Find a business or service, locate an organization, post a message, and check out the NJGayLife calendar of events.

 Pride Center of NJ - The Pride Center provides "safe space" for the g/l/b/t community: a place to learn about our community from a vast array of resources, a place to socialize and meet new friends, a place to gain acceptance and understanding of your gender and sexual identity in an comfortable setting.

 Senior Action in a Gay Environment (SAGE) - The nation's oldest and largest social service and advocacy organization dedicated to LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) senior citizens.  Professional social workers and counselors assist hundreds of people each year through case management and individual and group counseling, with special programs for HIV+ seniors, old lesbians, homebound seniors, and seniors with limited mobility.

 Gay & Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) - The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center provides a home for the birth, nurture and celebration of our organizations, institutions and culture; cares for our individuals and groups in need; educates the public and our community; and empowers our individuals and groups to achieve their fullest potential.

 National & International Gay & Lesbian Organizations and Publications - A website of organizations/publications important to glbt research, this includes articles related to Health, Support Groups, AIDS.

Legal Issues

 Lambda Legal - Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, the transgendered, and people with HIV or AIDS through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.


 ALA GLBT Roundtable - The GLBTRT is a unit of the American Library Association. The GLBTRT was founded in 1970 as the Task Force on Gay Liberation. The American Library Association GLBTRT offers many different types of support to lesbian, gay and bisexual library workers. 

 Gay & Lesbian Reading Group, LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th Street, NYC - Our friendly and diverse group welcomes everyone interested in Literature about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans life – past, present, and future.  Publishing Triangle - The purpose of the Publishing Triangle is to further the publication of books and other materials written by lesbian and gay authors or with lesbian and gay themes. Founded in 1988, The Publishing Triangle works to create support and a sense of community for lesbian and gay people in the publishing industry.
