Here you can find links to the official sites of current and upcoming film releases.

The guide permits you to search upcoming movies from major and independent studios. You may search by a number of criteria, including title, actor, director, and others.

For new releases, you can find show times, reviews, box office results, and other information. You can also search for older movies by title, cast, and several other criteria.

Films Festivals database (1995 to present) worldwide. Search by name, date, and country. Information includes addresses, contacts, and deadlines.

 Directory of International Film and Video Festivals On-line
Directory lists 500 international film, television and video festivals with details about entering. Searchable by name, date, country or town.

Extensive site that can be searched by title, browse by genre, country, and language.

Provides information about films from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.  Searchable.

Information on programs and festivals. Includes a searchable film database of over 1,600 films shown at the Festival since 1985.

 Independent Film Channel (IFC)
Resources for independent film makers, and previews of upcoming broadcasts.

Mega Movie Sites

 Internet Movie Database
Search for movies by title, star, character, name, and crew.  Includes lengthy description and links.

 American Film Institute (AFI)
AFI is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of film. Includes award winners, “100” lists, workshops, and festivals.

 All Movie Guide
Ratings and descriptions of over 220,000 feature movies and documentaries. Includes plot summary, review, cast, director, producer, VHS/DVD availability, indexing, search by genre, location, or browse.

Comprehensive movie review site brings together reviews from across the nation, including brief summary, rating, news articles, …

 Movie Query Review Engine
Index of links to movie reviews which can be searched by title or by lists such as recent releases or upcoming releases.

 Metacritic Film
Site brings together about 30 reviews per movie links to full reviews.


Selection of Movie, Film and Video Books

Halliwell’s Film & Video Guide. Annual. R791.43 Hall.
A British publication edited by John Walker. Films are listed alphabetically with a brief description, availability on DVD, video etc. As in past editions films are rated by a * star system but now have an added rating for family viewing. Halliwell is strong on foreign films and gives extensive credits for off screen contributors.

Halliwell’s Who’s Who in the Movies. R791.43 Hall.
A British publication edited by John Walker with the original title of Halliwell’s Filmgoers Companion. International in scope the volume contains very brief biographies of people involved in motion picture production and their credits. The volume also includes awards lists, glossary, movie lists, top movies, a bibliography, web resources, and chronology.

International Motion Picture Almanac. Annual. R791.43 Inte.
This industry publication is filled with information about the year in film. The information includes statistics such as grosses, attendance, etc., as well as mergers. Brief biographies of people involved in the film industry are included as well as films released in the last ten years. Companies involved in production, distribution and exhibition of films are included for both domestic and worldwide markets. Professional organizations and government offices involved in film production are also listed as well as web sites.

Leonard Maltin’s Movie and Video Guide. Annual. R 791.43 Malt.
More than 20,000 movies are included with short summaries and cast lists. Both Maltin’s and MPAA ratings are provided along with the availability of VHS tapes, DVD’s, and more.

Variety International Film Guide. Annual. R 791.4375 Vari.
is international in scope and features in depth articles on foreign directors and lists of international film awards. An assessment of the film industry in approximately 70 countries from Algeria to Zimbabwe, a world box office survey, guide to international film festivals, film schools and film archives is provided.

VideoHound’s Golden Movie Retriever. Annual. R 791.4375.Vide.
This annual provides a brief description for each film, members of the cast, a rating system and availability of VHS tapes, Beta, and DVD’s. VideoHound has the best indexes among film directories including: alternate titles, awards, director, cinematographer, and writer, just to name a few. It also has a subject and web site index.
