About E-Mail Reference

Email reference enables you to ask OCL librarians questions and receive answers via e-mail. Priority is given to Ocean County residents. If you need information ASAP, please call your local branch.

Who answers your questions?

The professional staff of the Ocean County Library will receive and answer your questions.

When to expect a response:

We will try to respond to your email within 48 business hours, excluding weekends and holidays. If you need immediate assistance please call or visit us. The minimum turnaround time is 24 hours (Monday to Friday), depending upon the amount of research required to answer your inquiry. If you need an answer by a certain date, please be sure to specify this within the question box.

Types of questions answered:

• brief answers to factual questions which can be answered quickly,
• information about publications you could request through inter-library loan, or
• referrals to other sources or places that might help to answer your question.

What our service does not provide:

This service is NOT intended for questions regarding your fines, renewals, or the status of holds. If you have questions about these matters, please call us so we can help you right away.
