All branches of the Ocean County Library will be closed Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day. All branches will reopen Tuesday, May 29, with the exception of the Manchester Branch.

The Manchester Branch will be closed for renovations May 29th and will reopen June 11th.

Ocean County Library Offers a Look at Historic 1918 Flu Outbreak

LONG BEACH ISLAND -  The Ocean County Library will present “Forgotten Flu…Now Remembered” at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the Long Beach Island Branch, 217 S. Central Ave. in Surf City.

Jim Curley, presenter, will provide insight into the flu outbreak of 1918 known as the Spanish flu. There will be a discussion of the U.S. and world responses, the heroes who battled this deadly influenza pandemic as well as the efforts to prevent future catastrophes.
