Celebrate Women’s History Month, National Nutrition Month And Youth Art Month in March at Berkeley Library

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP – The Ocean County Library Berkeley Branch will present an inspiring interpretive theater piece, handmade crafting, cooking for kids and spring garden preparation among its many programs during March.

The schedule includes:

  • “Monday Movies,” 1:30 p.m. Monday Mar. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30. Call the branch for titles.
  • “Computer and eBook Help,” by appointment. Call the branch for details.
  • “Pop-In Puzzle.” Help complete this month’s puzzle. No registration required.
  • “Baby and Me,” 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Mar. 3 and Friday Mar. 20. Music and movement for babies up to 12 months of age and caregivers.
  • “Teen Advisory Board,” 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Mar. 4. Gain leadership skills and earn community service hours. Ages 12 – 18. No registration required
  • “Afternoon of Mah Jongg,” 1 p.m. Thursday Mar. 5, 12, 19, 26. If you own a set, please bring it along. No registration required.
  • “Playtime Fun,” 10 a.m. Thursday Mar. 5. Toys and socializing for youngsters ages 1 – 4. No registration required.
  • “Saturday STEM Storytime,” 2 p.m. Saturday Mar. 7. Hear stories about famous engineers and build a miniature bridge. Ages 3 and up.
  • “Young Scientists,” 7 p.m. Monday Mar. 9. Experiment, play and learn STEAM concepts. Ages 6 and up.
  • “Craft for Adults with Special Challenges,” 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Mar. 10. Materials will be supplied.
  • “Toddler Time,” 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Mar. 11 and Thursday, Mar. 26. Stories, rhymes, songs and dance for ages 1 – 2.
  • “Youth Art Month Creations,” 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Mar. 11. Create a mixed media work of art. No experience necessary. Grades 7 – 12.
  • “Book Discussion,” 1 p.m. Friday Mar. 13. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. No registration required.
  • “Mixed Media Art Club,” 3:30 p.m. Friday Mar. 13. Bring your sketchbook or current project. Beginners welcome. No registration required. Grades 7 – 12.
  • “Sensory Play,” 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Mar. 17. Play and learn with sensory stations. Ages 2 and up.
  • “Adult Craft: Welcome Spring,” 2 p.m. Tuesday Mar. 17. Materials will be provided.
  • “Book Café for Adults with Special Challenges,” 11 a.m. Wednesday Mar. 18. Share your favorites with friends. Call the branch to reserve your group’s titles.
  • “Her Name in Stars,” 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Mar. 18. Celebrate Women’s History Month. Create a constellation and learn about female pioneers of outer space.
  • “Paws for Reading,” 4 p.m. Thursday Mar. 19. Practice reading skills in the company of therapy dogs.
  • “Composting 101,” 7 p.m. Thursday Mar. 19. Learn how to recycle household food scraps to enrich your garden and lower your carbon footprint.
  • “Curious Creations,” 10 a.m. Saturday Mar. 21. Join in a maker event featuring our building kit. Grades 7 – 12.
  • “Susan B. Anthony: Failure Is Impossible,” 2 p.m. Saturday Mar. 21. Celebrate the centennial of woman’s suffrage with the famous activist, portrayed by American Historical Theater. Sponsored by Friends of the Berkeley Library.
  • “Suffragette Rosette Pins,” 3 p.m. Saturday Mar. 21. Celebrate Women’s History Month by turning recycled materials into suffragette rosette pins. Grades 7 – 12.
  • “Kids Cook,” 6:30 p.m. Monday Mar. 23. Celebrate National Nutrition Month with  dietician Jenn Klein. Ages 8 – 12. Notify the branch about allergy concerns.
  • “Jersey Friendly Yards,” 2 p.m. Wednesday Mar. 25. Spring planting and landscaping tips for using native plants.
  • “Alma Woodsey Thomas Painting,” 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Mar. 25. Celebrate Women’s History Month by painting in the style of Alma Woodsey Thomas. Grades 7 – 12.
  • “Turtle Dance: An Interactive Musical Performance for Adults with Special Challenges,” 11 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 31. Enjoy karaoke, comedy and games. Sponsored by Friends of the Berkeley Library.
