Learn Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Care in Ocean County Library Virtual Program

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library and the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter invite caregivers of people with progressive cognitive disorders to develop essential financial planning skills during a virtual program, 6:30 PM Wednesday, June 22.

Debby Montone, RN, and Robyn Kohn, MA, CDP, CMDCP, Director of Programs and Services for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, will offer insights to legal, financial, and medical issues for people who provide care for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related conditions. A question-and-answer period will follow.

The program, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, is the final segment of the four-part series that highlights June as Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Awareness Month.

According to research by the Alzheimer’s Association, about 190,000 people aged 65 and older in New Jersey live with Alzheimer’s. Some 361,000 family caregivers provide about 686 million hours of unpaid care, valued at $13 billion. Alzheimer’s places a $2.1 billion burden on the state Medicaid program each year.
