I-SPY Display

FanNation's first,
3D I-Spy

→ Take a break from all of the FanNation excitement. There will be 2 different self-led 3D I-Spy puzzles. One is a LEGO display where you can search for mini-figures and special LEGO pieces. The second is a display representing a variety of FanNation characters. Spend a few minutes or a few hours hunting for different heros that we love.

Among Us Mural Puzzle

Scavenger Hunt

→ Help us complete our FanNation mural. Start at the FanNation table in the Lobby and follow the clues to locate our missing puzzle pieces and get a prize! Please only grab 1 puzzle piece per person.

Pokémon: Gotta Find Them All

Scavenger Hunt

→ Grab a brochure at the FanNation Sign-In Table. Snap a picture of the Pokémon you find hiding around the library! Write down where you’ve found the Pokémon and present it to the sign-in table.

Where’s Yoda?

→ Can you find a 3D printed figurine hidden between the stacks of the library?! Find a figurine and take it home with you as a souvenir! One per person. While supplies last. All ages.

→ There will also be a larger printed Yoda hidden in the library. Whoever finds it will be able to claim their prize in the Sparks's Lab located on the second floor of the library.

Escape Room: Demigod Dilemma (10:30 am – 3:30 pm)

→ Help a demigod complete their quest.  Sign-up in the lobby the day of FanNation.

Cosplay Contest Registration

→ Represent your fandom and participate in this contest where prizes will be awarded to the top 3 cosplayers. Register between 10am – 1pm in the library Lobby to participate. Contest starts at 3 pm.

→ Stop by the Sparks’s Lab, located on the second floor of the library, and create your own canvas bag with a variety of different materials! Including decals made by the Cricut® Maker™.

→ Share them, trade them, wear them! Drop in the Sparks’s Lab, located on the second floor of the library, to come and create your own buttons.

→ Choose from our board of pre-selected backgrounds and go home with an AWESOME picture!

→ Join Wonder Heroine for a Superhero Storytime, including stories, non-competitive games, and meet & greet with photos.

→ Make a needlepoint magnet that looks like a Mario Mystery Box.

Beginning at 11:00am | Mickey Mouse Hat Art 

→ Located in the Atrium. Create your own personalized design on a 3D printed Mickey Mouse hat figurine using paint pens.

Beginning at 12:00pm | Grow Your Own Groot

→ Each participant will receive a clay pot to decorate and stylized seed packet to grow their very own Groot at home!

Beginning at 1:00pm | Soot Sprite Jars

→ Capture some of the whimsical magic of Studio Ghibli by making a Soot Sprite and stars.

→ Show people how you really feel by making an anime inspired sweat drop or anger vein hair clip.

Saber Guild Corellia Presents Children's Padawan Training Class

→ Costumed Jedi instructors guide a group of children to "Use the Force," practice lightsaber attack and self-defense routines, and offer them a safe chance to "test" their skills using the defense routine with instructor guidance.  This non-contact experience uses safe "practice sabers" lent to students for the event. Please see the SaberGuild Table to sign up a child for the training session. Space is limited.

→ Become the heroes in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. Play through a session of Magpie’s Avatar: Legends, a table top role playing game.

What is FanNation?

→ FanNation: the Geekstravaganza will be a multi-genre convention where fans can get together and wave their geek banners high. This is expected to be the largest library event of the fall with the Toms River Branch hosting.

Who can attend FanNation?

→ Everyone is welcome! FanNation is FREE and open to the public, although we request that you register to attend. You do not have to be a resident of Ocean County. Programming will be geared towards adults and teens 12+, with added fun for little ones this year! Click here to register.

What can I do at FanNation?

→ FanNation begins Saturday at 10 am with programming throughout the building. Saturday’s panels, workshops, and presentations will culminate in a Cosplay Contest beginning at 3 pm.

Panels include topics on anime, game design, D&D and more. There will also be an escape room, scavenger hunts and crafts.

For our younger fans there will be storytime in the morning.

What is a fandom anyway?

→ Fan.dom, noun: The fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc., regarded collectively as a community or subculture. (www.oxforddictionaries.com)

A fandom is a group of people who like the same thing. People who like Doctor Who are a part of the Doctor Who fandom. People who like anime are a part of the anime fandom. Etc.

I’m not a geek! Can I still attend?

→ Of course!

Do I have to register?

→ Registration for Saturday is recommended. Register here for FanNation.

Do I have to stay the whole time?

→ No, but we hope you do! You are welcome to come for just one program or stay for the whole day. If you are thinking of coming early, note that the library doesn’t open until 9 am and programming won’t start until 10 am. The library closes at 5 pm. If you get hungry in the middle of the day, there are restaurants in the area.

Can I come in cosplay?

→ Yes!

When planning your cosplay, please be aware the library’s code of conduct will be enforced. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn. Carrying weapons is not permitted. ANY prop weapon must be obviously fake, or it may be subject to confiscation for the length of the event.

How do I enter the cosplay contest?

→ Registration will occur on-site at the FanNation information table in the lobby.
