History
Each November Native American Heritage Month is celebrated across the United States. Beginning in 1915 various states and organizations began honoring the contributions of Native Americans with day long celebrations in various months. It wasn’t until 1990 that November was officially designated to celebrate the contributions and lives of Native Americans by President George H. W. Bush. Each year since then a proclamation has been issued to commemorate the significant place Native Americans have had throughout history. (adapted from nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov)
