History
Women’s History Month is celebrated across the United States every March. What began as Women’s History Week in 1981 expanded to an entire month in 1987. Every year since 1995 Women’s History Month has received annual proclamations by each president. This month honors the contributions and achievements women have made over America’s history across various fields. Major organizations across the country use this time to place special emphasis on “encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.” (adapted from womenshistorymonth.gov)
