Discover Our Region’s Avian Wonders at the Ocean County Library Plumsted Branch
May 16, 2025PLUMSTED TOWNSHIP – Ocean County is the full-time and seasonal home to more than 300 species of common and exotic birds and they are fundamental to our region’s ecological balance. Learn about the many types and their contributions during “Birds of Ocean County with Cattus Island” at the Ocean County Library Plumsted Branch, 11 AM Thursday, June 12.
In this program geared toward adults, a naturalist from Cattus Island County Park, Toms River, will familiarize you with our avian friends’ habits, habitats, and value to the delicate environmental balance of the Barnegat Bay Watershed and surrounding area.
Cattus Island County Park’s 530 pristine acres of woods, marshes and beachfront contains seven miles of hiking trails. The Cooper Environmental Center offers hands-on displays for all ages including a live osprey cam, bird viewing area, live reptiles and fish and children’s activities. The park’s Butterfly Garden offers an up-close look at native plants and pollinators.
