Find Your Fondness for Funny Farm at the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch

August 14, 2024

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP – The devoted daughter who realized her mom’s dream of a haven for neglected animals will share her story and some of her critters during a Friends Adventure, “Funny Farm Rescue and Sanctuary,” at the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch, 10 AM Thursday, September 12.

Laurie Zaleski will discuss watching her single mom, Annie McNulty, raise four children in a rented house while working for an animal control service and caring for animals with no hope or future. She called the misfits her “funny farm.” Young Laurie vowed to buy a real farm for her mom.

Annie’s life ended two weeks before Laurie bought a 15-acre parcel in Mays Landing, but the dutiful daughter carried on. Now Funny Farm Rescue and Sanctuary is one of the largest of its kind in the northeastern United States with events and free admission. Laurie will introduce you to some of the more than 600 animals that are “living their best lives possible.”
