Learn How to Aid Vets in Crisis at the Ocean County Library Waretown Branch
January 20, 2025WARETOWN – The Ocean County Library is pleased to present an opportunity to learn how to help military veterans in extreme distress. Training in the S.A.V.E method developed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) New Jersey Health Care System will be offered at the Ocean County Library Waretown Branch, 10:30 AM Saturday, February 15.
Members of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System will teach ways to identify symptoms that might be displayed by veterans in crisis, and how to assist them with care and compassion. S.A.V.E is an acronym for Signs, Ask, Validate, Encourage/Expedite.
The U.S. VA New Jersey Health Care System operates 11 clinics throughout the state. The agency’s website contains information about each clinic and tools for health care self-management, medical appointments and more. New federal policy allows veterans in suicidal crisis to seek free emergency care at any VA or non-VA health care facility.
