Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch to Present Anne & Ridley Enslow’s All Hallows’ Eve Concert

October 3, 2024

BARNEGAT TOWNSHIP – Halloween as we know it is deeply rooted in ancient rituals and lore. The historical music duo Anne and Ridley Enslow will bring these early mysteries to life during their All Hallows’ Eve performance at the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch, 7 PM Tuesday, October 22.

Today’s Halloween customs didn’t exist until the 1870s. The Enslows’ unique history-infused concert will span several centuries of superstitions, rites and folklore, interpreted on hammered dulcimer and a rare violin that dates back to 1776.

The New Jersey couple have specialized in colonial American music for more than 30 years. Their Enslow Publishers firm issues educational books for children and young adults. Their recorded works of music and history have won recognition from the American Library Association and the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
