Turn It Up! ‘Summer Music at the Library,’ Ocean County Library Upper Shores Branch

As a special treat for patrons and visitors, multifaceted keyboardist Gary Evans offers an ongoing program of “The Great American Standards,” 2 PM on the first Thursday of every month. No registration is required. Gary’s upcoming appearances include July 3 and August 7.
Sungji Kim, internationally acclaimed for her artistry, stage presence and “incisive and bright voice” (The New York Times), has a vast repertoire that ranges from Renaissance to contemporary songs, including duets for voice and classical guitar that she discovers and premieres. She has performed more than 30 operatic roles worldwide.
Rave On’s Chris and Anthony specialize in music that influenced rockers such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. “Rave On! started in 2009 out of love for Buddy Holly’s and Roy Orbison’s music,” Chris said. “We felt that this music needs to be kept alive and brought to new audiences.”
RB Express’s silken vocals and tight rhythms place a special stamp on the music of the 1950s and entertain audiences throughout the Northeastern US, Hawai’i and St. Maarten, and nationally on TV’s Fox and Friends. The band attracts hundreds of Facebook followers.
The Strictly 60s Band delivers high-energy shows filled with passion for the music that defines the Rock generation. Lead singer Joel B, lead guitarist Frank A, keyboardist Charles A, bassist-singer Dennis Hern and drummer-singer John Miller connect with fans through their website, Facebook and YouTube.
Laurie Gold blends classical, pop and rock influences for a riveting piano program of sing-along covers for which she’s known at libraries, senior centers and many other venues. Laurie features her special brand of music on Instagram, Soundcloud, YouTube and Facebook.
